Interestingly the system for scoring our behavior seems to have the increasingly biggest impact.
One green factor, the measure of improved storage possibilities of energy, short term is even of negative impact while long term it is positive. It is explainable when we look at all the 44 connections the iMODELER shows between this factor and the central factor. More EVs and longer ranges lead to less footwalks and less uses of railtransport etc.. On the long run, however, the positive effects of a change of values and the shift away from conventional cars leads to a more sustainable mobility.

A macroeconomic rebound is the slow down in price increases for fossil fuels as more EVs lead to less demand. That, of course, will lead to more consumption from conventional car drivers and other users of fossil energy.

Another rebound effect stems from the fact that many users of EVs will use their cool cars for short distances they could easily have walked or used a bicycle for.
For sure the effect is not that large or even a backfire effect.

The short range of EVs is a nice feature. Once they are a must-have despite their low range people use the railways in addition for long distances. If you would not have this disadvantage we would face almost the same problems of traffic congestion, total energy consumption and the shortage of resources for battery production.
